Wizard Easy Programming now allows no-code approach to ABB robots

A look at ABB Skill Creator inside its Wizard Easy Programming software.

Industrial automation leader ABB has expanded its intuitive, no-code robot programming software to include six-axis industrial robots with OmniCore controllers. Previously limited to ABB's collaborative robots, Wizard Easy Programming aims to lower barriers for first-time users while offering new productivity to expert engineers.

Using straightforward graphical blocks instead of line code, Wizard enables rapid application development without specialized training. By abstracting motion sequences, synchronization, signals and force control into interactive building blocks, the software helps users modify behaviors or create fully customized programs.

Augmenting Wizard's existing benefit for small businesses adopting cobots, the release unlocks simplified control of ABB's entire portfolio from small collaborative arms to large industrial models. Lead Marc Segura suggests wizard will enable seamless scaling of automation as needs grow.

The Skill Creator module allows integrators to wrap domain expertise into shareable wizard components. Partners can encapsulate accessories from grippers to cameras as programming shortcuts, while leveraging wizard's hardware-agnostic nature to widen compatibility.

Preinstalled on all new units, Wizard Easy Programming signifies ABB's commitment to democratizing automation regardless of robot type, size or environment. Paired with Omnicore's energy efficiency and modular expandability, the move aims to make capable, flexible smart robotics accessible across industries.

Rapid-program, feature-rich automation paves the way for more manufacturers to incrementally embrace industrial technologies enhancing their resilience and competitiveness.
