Simbe Robotics has improved its Tally robot’s vision technology to help stores run more smoothly. The upgraded Simbe Vision system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to spot issues like low stock, misplaced items, and incorrect price tags, while also suggesting smart fixes to save time and money.
The Tally robot moves through stores on its own, scanning shelves to check for out-of-stock products, wrong prices, or items in the wrong place. With the new Simbe Vision, it can now do even more, like spotting low stock before it runs out, comparing shelf inventory with backroom stock, and catching price tag errors using barcode scanning and AI. These upgrades help stores fix problems faster and keep shelves fully stocked.

Big retailers like BJ’s Wholesale Club, Schnucks, and CarrefourSA have tested Simbe’s technology and seen fewer errors and better store efficiency. The system is highly accurate, identifying products correctly 98.7% of the time and detecting shelf issues with over 99% precision, according to Simbe.
Earlier this year, Simbe added Tally Spot, a fixed camera system that works with the Tally robot to give stores a complete view of their inventory. Together, they scan 5,400 items per hour and find up to 10 times more out-of-stock items than manual checks. Simbe says it has analyzed over 60 billion shelf images so far and expects to double that in 2025.
“Our system doesn’t just find problems—it tells store teams what to do next, saving time and boosting sales,†said Jari Safi, Simbe’s vice president for AI. With a database of 18 million products, Simbe’s AI can even tell the difference between similar items, like different flavors of the same brand.
