Security robot ROAMEO Gen 4 debuts as RAD Hits 1,000-unit deployment milestone

ROAMEO are perfectly positioned to define and capture this market.

Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD) has unveiled its latest autonomous security solution, the ROAMEO Gen 4, marking a significant advancement in automated campus security while simultaneously celebrating a milestone of 1,000 deployed devices across its product line.

The fourth-generation ROAMEO, standing at an imposing 6 feet 9 inches tall, represents RAD's largest autonomous security device to date. This height was strategically chosen to allow the robot to maintain clear sightlines over vehicles and crowds in high-traffic areas, addressing a common challenge in outdoor surveillance.

"The market for a robot like ROAMEO remains untapped," says Steve Reinharz, CEO of AITX and RAD. "Having solved a myriad of technical challenges and deployed many earlier versions of ROAMEO, we are perfectly positioned to define and capture this market."

The new security robot boasts impressive specifications that set it apart from traditional security solutions. With a weight of 1,609 pounds and dimensions surpassing typical security golf carts while remaining smaller than mid-sized automobiles, ROAMEO Gen 4 combines mobility with a commanding presence. The robot can operate for up to 16 hours on a single charge, effectively covering two security shifts, and features autonomous recharging capabilities.

Built for all-weather operation, the robot includes sophisticated sensor arrays comprising lidar, radar, vision systems, microphones, and ultrasonic sensors. RAD claims the system will achieve SAE Level 5 autonomous operation even in challenging weather conditions, including rain and snowstorms. Its four-wheel-drive system can handle 20% inclines, while a ground clearance of 9.4 inches ensures versatility across various terrain types.

The timing of this announcement coincides with RAD's achievement of deploying 1,000 security devices, highlighting the growing adoption of autonomous security solutions. Looking ahead, the company projects significant growth potential, estimating that 250 deployed ROAMEO units could generate approximately $20 million in recurring revenue.

RAD's expansion comes at a time when demand for automated security solutions is rising, particularly from municipalities and regional jurisdictions seeking cost-effective alternatives to traditional security measures. The company reports interest from over 35 Fortune 500 companies, suggesting growing corporate acceptance of autonomous security solutions.

"We're anticipating hundreds of units being deployed in the coming years, marking a major step forward in our growth, path to profitability, and continued innovation," Reinharz noted, projecting deployment of 100 units by the end of 2026.

The ROAMEO Gen 4's development incorporates lessons learned from previous generations, including the unreleased Version 3.x, and integrates AITX's proprietary Autonomous Intelligent Response (AIR) technology. This evolution reflects RAD's commitment to refining its technology based on real-world deployment experiences.

As public safety concerns continue to evolve, RAD positions its autonomous security solutions as a bridge between traditional security measures and future needs, offering what it describes as efficient, non-biased, and impactful technology for modern security challenges.
