indie Semiconductor and SiLC Technologies LiDAR partnership

indie and SiLC partner to deliver coherent detection-based LiDAR.

Autotech solutions innovator indie Semiconductor has partnered with silicon photonics leader SiLC Technologies to enable next-generation LiDAR platforms leveraging coherent detection. Combining their award-winning technologies, the collaboration will deliver fully integrated FMCW-based vision systems redefining benchmarks across automotive, robotics and industrial automation applications.

Compared to standard direct detection time-of-flight solutions, frequency modulated continuous wave LiDAR provides superior range, precision, velocity sensing and interference immunity. Together, indie and SiLC are creating breakthrough reference designs that significantly improve manufacturability, power, form factor and cost versus competing platforms.

As indie SVP Chet Babla explained, "By integrating the software-defined processing of Surya with SiLC's Eyeonic vision chip, we're enabling 4D FMCW imaging for mass deployment in diverse markets."

SiLC VP Ralf Muenster added, "We're excited to bring our industry-leading FMCW LiDAR together with indie to market. Our sensor offers the highest resolution, precision and range available while adding polarization capabilities."

Driven by demand, the joint reference platforms are already being evaluated by top auto and industrial OEMs. Both companies are actively developing new designs showcasing the adaptability of their technologies.

This strategic partnership combines indie Semiconductor's innovative analog/mixed signal processing with SiLC's proven photonic LiDAR expertise. The result establishes a new standard for affordable, high-performance LiDAR across key growth sectors like autonomous mobility and robotics.

Together, indie and SiLC are democratizing access to cutting-edge coherent detection to enable the next generation of real-time vision and perception systems. Their collaboration exemplifies the power of weaving together complementary innovations to push the boundaries of what LiDAR can achieve.
